Crime data is published by the NZ Police, as "Reported Crime". Note that the sub-areas of "violence" and "fraud" are both included in the overall "crime" data.
We display here only a small portion of the data available. Full data is available on either the NZ Police website, or the Statistics NZ website.
And, here is how our 'violent crime' data compares with that of the US. Most New Zealanders jump to the conclusion that reporting rates are vastly different, but although there will be differences, they are actually likely to be relatively small.
