The Performance Composite Index is a monthly survey combining both the PMI and PSI indexes. It is produced by Business NZ, and sponsored by BNZ who also provide expert commentary.
A PCI reading above 50 points indicates activity is expanding; below 50 indicates it is contracting.
The versions charted here combine the PMI and the PSI based on the proportions that Manufacturing and Services make in our GDP; about one eighth, and two thirds, respectively. These weights may change over time.
