The Opening Bell: Where currencies start for Tuesday, January 14, 2014

The NZD/USD opens around 0.8370 this morning.

The US Dollar has been under pressure across the board as investors continue to trim long positions following the weaker job number last week.

US stocks have been under pressure with the S&P 500 down 0.94%. Commodities are mixed with oil down 1.18% while gold is up 0.39%. US treasury yields are lower with the 10 year at 2.82% down from recent highs over 3%.

The NZD opens at 0.9236 AUD, 0.6124 EUR, 0.5110 GBP, 86.16 JPY, 0.9098 CAD.

From New Zealand today the focus will be on the Quarterly Survey of Business Opinion.
