MARKET REPORT NEW ZEALAND WOOL SALE 2nd August ChCH 2018

At Christchurch 10,500 bales offered The offering was made up of approx. –50% ewe fleece,27% 2/s  1.7% Hgt fleece, 1st lambs, 1.8%  Mid Micron 3% and balance Odds, XBD bulky oddments and misc.

The market compared to the last ChCh sale held on 19th July 2018. The downward trend has stopped and for the finer classes dramatically reversed although on smaller numbers of bales . A 20% passing rate  is treduced from the previous 40%+ but still too high

XBD Fleece :  a weighted average of $3.36 slightly up on the last ChCh sale which had an average of $3.34 

XBD 2nd shear and early shorn: $3.16 Almost the same as the last ChCh sale of $3.14

 XBD Hgt Fleece.  very small numbers to quote on

1st Lambs  Lambs sales were down at $4.49 on the previous sale of $5.03  

XBD bulky oddments: slightly up

XBD 2nd shear Oddments:  slightly up

Small lines of Merino and  finer mid-micron wool were up at $30.10 and $15.58 were the highlights of the sale

Passings 20% overall

No Christcurch sale next week next sale Napier on 9th August.

MARKET REPORT NAPIER WOOL SALE 26th July 2018

At Napier 10,650 bales offfered; The offering was made up of  approx 16% Xbd Fleece, 65% Xbd 2^nd Shear and Early Shorn, 3.% Xbd Hog Fleece and early shorn:1st Lambs and  2nd shear lambs made up 13% . The balance 2nd shear oddments, bulky oddments and misc. All the major classes are down on where the last season finished. A high level of passing in helped to hold prices. Passing in was at a similar level to the sale of the 12th July at 20%

XBD Fleece  With a weighted average of $3.00 is further down on previous sales

Xbd 2nd Shear and Early Shorn.  At $3.08nd shear is also down on the previous sale.

XBD Hgt Fleece and Early Shorn: On very small volumes is at an average of $3.35

1st Lambs:   Lambs average $3.99 is down on the previous sale of $4.08 More lambs wool was sold as 2nd shear with an average of $3.57 and approx 33 micons

2nd shear oddments:  cheaper

XBD bulky oddments:   cheaper

Passings:  20% passed in. 

The next sale is on Thursday August 2nd 2018 at Christchurch  with 10,521 bales approx and there is no Napier sale.
