Plan B which operates five data centres in New Zealand, in Rosedale, Auckland, and in the South Island, has been sold to Sydney-based Australian enterprise IT provider Atturra for $20 million.
The deal also includes an earn-out, post-transaction completion of $4.5 million.
Atturra is buying Plan B through its Cirrus Network Holdings subsidiary. Through the acquisition, Atturra will add over 1000 customers across Australia and New Zealand, the company said.
Plan B provides managed network, connectivity and cloud services for local and Australian businesses, with data centre facilities connected to each other through a high-speed backbone.
It is headquartered in Rosedale, North Harbour, with former Microsoft veteran Frazer Scott as the chief executive. It has offices in Wellington and Christchurch. Plan B bought network and comms company Solarix in 2018, and ICONZ, a well-known name on the New Zealand Internet service provider scene in 2016.
Rabobank, IT distributor Ingram Micro, the Motor Trade Association, NZ Funds and Rakon are some of Plan B's customers currently.
Atturra rebranded from FTS Group in 2021, following a string of acquisitions. The company has continued its aggressive growth through acquisitions over the past few years.
The chief executive of Atturra, Stephen Kowal, said the Australian company sees the Plan B buy as a launchpad for further geographical expansion and capability, thanks in particular to the latter company's five primary data centres across New Zealand.
