Description of trading activities
Manawa Energy started in the early 20th Century when the Õmanawa river, found in the Bay of Plenty, was used for the very first time for hydro-electric power generation. Formerly known as Trustpower, Manawa Energy pioneered wind-powered generation in Āotearoa through building two wind farms, one in Manawatū, and one in Otago. Manawa Energy now aims to provide renewable energy to their customers around the country, to not only decarbonise New Zealand, but also become New Zealand’s fastest-growing energy company.
CEO profile
Clayton Delmarter was appointed the Interim Chief Executive in September of 2023. Delmarter is regarded as an ‘Energy sector specialist’ in his role at HRL Morrison & Co, where he helps in managing Manawa Energy’s largest shareholder, Infratil Ltd. Delmarter has over 20 years of experience in the Renewable energy industry. Delmarter first started his journey at Manawa Energy in 2002, and through his journey has been vital to the company’s execution of many renewable energy projects. Delmarter graduated from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Science (Technology), holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Finance), and is a Graduate of the University of Oxford Saïd Business School Advanced management & Leadership programme.
Chairman profile
Deion Campbell became Chair in June of 2023. Campbell joined the Board in 2022, and was appointed to Chair almost one year later. Joining Manawa Energy from being an operating partner with Morrison & Co. Campbell also has 20 years of experience at Trustpower, and is the former CEO of Tilt Renewables. Campbell graduated from the University of Canterbury in 1992 with a Masters of Engineering, majoring in Electrical Engineering and Management.
