Description of trading activities
Meridian Energy Limited is a New Zealand electricity generator and retailer. Today, Meridian operates seven hydroelectric power stations and one wind farm in the South Island of New Zealand, four wind farms in the North Island, and two wind farms in southern Australia. "All the electricity we generate comes from 100% renewable sources – wind, water and sun. Always will be. All the electricity that we supply to our customers comes from the electricity grid, which mixes electricity supplied from both renewable and non-renewable sources."

Neal Barclay was appointed the Chief Executive of Meridian Energy in January 2018. Barclay joined Meridian in 2008 as the Chief Financial officer. Before joining Meridian, Neal held several general manager and finance roles during a 13-year career with Telecom New Zealand Limited. Barclay has a background in accounting and is a qualified chartered accountant.

Mark Verbiest joined the Meridian board in March 2017, and was appointed Chair in October 2019. Verbiest is currently serving on the boards of other organizations including ANZ Bank New Zealand Ltd. (director), Freightways Ltd. (chairman), and the Advisory Board to New Zealand Treasury (Member). Verbiest is a former board member of the Financial Markets Authority and former Chairman of both Spark New Zealand Ltd. and Transport New Zealand Ltd.
