By Dan Bell

The NZD/USD opens around 0.8240 this morning.

Yesterday's RBNZ MPS underpinned NZD strength, suggesting rate hikes as early as March 2014.

US stocks are down again overnight with S&P 500 -0.14% this morning, Dow Jones -0.13%.

US Retail Sales figures came in better than expected at +0.7%, fuelling more tapering talk.

The AUD was hit hard again as RBA Governor Stevens suggested Australia needs their currency closer to 0.8500 against the USD, the sell off saw NZDAUD rally to another new high - currently 0.9225.

The NZD opens at current indicative levels: 0.9225 AUD, 0.5995 EUR, 0.5040 GBP, 85.15 JPY, 0.8770 CAD.
