WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 gained +0.3% today. Over the past five-day period, it has declined -1%, down -3% for the month. Compared to this time last year, the index has risen +5%.
THE MAIN GAINERS
There are 43 gainers in the market today. Heartland Group Holdings (HGH, #33) rose +2%. Over the last six months, its share price has fallen -22%, down -36% year-on-year. Air New Zealand (AIR, #19) also gained +2%, maintaining the same figure for the year. Skellerup Holdings (SKL, #29) increased +2%, up +4% over the last six months and growing +18% year-on-year. Oceania Healthcare (OCA, #42) also climbed +2% but remains down -15% over the past six months. All of Synlait (+6.7%), Fonterra (+3.2%), and a2 Milk (+0.6%) all gained today on the positive diary story. Market heavyweight F&P Healthcare is up +1.1% today

THE MAIN DECLINERS
There are 33 decliners today, with Vista Group (VGL, #32) leading losses, down -2.5%. Despite this, the company has gained +18% over the last six months and is up +115% for the year. Contact Energy (CEN, #7) fell -1.5%, bringing its five-day decline to -4%. However, its share price remains up +8% year-on-year. Kathmandu Brands (KMD, #50) and Tower Limited (TWR, #39) both dropped -1%. Kathmandu's share price is down -28% for the year, while Tower has seen a significant +102% increase year-on-year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Fonterra has raised its FY25 earnings guidance from 40-60 cents per share to 55-75 cents per share, citing strong performance across its core Ingredients business and Consumer channel. CEO Miles Hurrell highlighted the Co-op’s ability to deliver solid earnings alongside a $10.00 per kgMS Farmgate Milk Price midpoint, benefiting farmer shareholders. The Consumer channel has seen volume and margin growth while recovering higher milk prices. Fonterra will release its FY25 interim results on 20 March 2025, confirming its interim dividend, which aligns with its policy of paying 60-80% of full-year earnings, with up to 50% at interims.
