The latest auction results from the country's largest real estate agency highlight the difference in selling prices between Auckland and the rest of the country.
From this week, interest.co.nz will be publishing auction results from Harcourts branches throughout the country.
Today's results, of homes auctioned in the two weeks ended March 14, include results of auctions in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Manawatu, Kapiti Coast, Wellington and Christchurch.
There are also some results from rural property auctions in the Waikato.
The cheapest property to sell in Auckland was a three bedroom, weatherboard home on a cross-leased section in the west Auckland suburb of Kelston, which has traditionally been a happy hunting ground for investors. Described as a do-up opportunity by the agent, it sold for $555,000.
In Hamilton, the cheapest auction price of the week was from the mortgagee sale of a three bedroom house in Frankton which sold for $156,000 and in Palmerston North a four bedroom home with two bathrooms went for $305,000.
On the Kapiti Coast a two bedroom townhouse at Raumati beach sold for $210,000, while a two bedroom townhouse at Merivale in Christchurch went for $400,000.
From the rural salesroom, a 5.8ha vacant site in Te Kauwhata, which had power on site and came with its own stream and waterfall, sold at mortgagee auction for $121,000.
