BNZ has named Phil Bennett as its head of property finance.
Bennett has held the role in an acting capacity since July. Described as a career banker, Bennett has been with BNZ since 2000. Before that he worked in retail and commercial banking roles at Westpac, and has also been BNZ's regional manager of property for the lower North Island.
For the last five years he has been managing partner at BNZ’s Wellington Partners business, overseeing 60 staff.
“Commercial and residential property is a key part of New Zealand Inc," Bennett was quoted saying in a statement.
“We all live and work in residential and commercial properties and helping to facilitate high quality, sustainable property developments and long-term investments is not only exciting; it is a basic building block for developing New Zealand’s world-class cities," added Bennett.
BNZ's previous head of property finance was Peter Thomas, the former Equitable Mortgages CEO who is now the bank's chief credit officer.
