Serious Fraud Office boss Adam Feeley is leaving after less than three years in the job to become chief executive of the Queenstown Lakes District Council.
The Council announced today that Feeley would take up his new job within the next three months.
He was appointed SFO Director and Chief Executive in November 2009.
His tenure has seen the SFO take high profile cases against several failed finance companies including Bridgecorp and South Canterbury Finance. The SFO continues to probe Hanover Finance.
A qualified lawyer Feeley was Chief Executive of the Eden Park Redevelopment Board prior to taking the SFO reins.
“Adam has left this Council with no doubt that he has the skills and experience to deliver in this role. Not only does he have an exemplary track record as a decisive and action oriented leader but he comes with political and business acumen,” Queenstown Lakes District Council Mayor Vanessa van Uden said.
The Council's statement quotes Feeley saying although he has "thoroughly enjoyed" his time at the SFO, he's relishing the future challenge and "very much" look forward to engaging with his new community.
