- Strengthen the Independent Police Conduct Authority, by providing independent investigation services and permit it to recommend prosecution to ensure the treatment of police committing criminal conduct are treated the same as any citizen.
- Maintain a predominantly-unarmed police force and prevent police officers from carrying arms as a matter of course.

- Expand mental health facilities in policing such as the Watch-house Nurse Programme and the Mental Health Co- Response Initiative.
- Clamp down on organised crime and drug dealers who push dangerous drugs into our communities.
- Introduce Firearm Prohibition Orders to give Police more powers to stop dangerous people accessing firearms.
- Increase funding and resourcing for the Independent Police Conduct Authority.
- Increase allocation of Police to rural areas, including increasing one-person Police stations to two-person stations (pilot scheme in Northland first).
- Give Police greater powers to search the homes and cars of violent gang members for firearms through Firearm Prohibition Orders.
- Resource Police to designate a dedicated gang unit to disrupt the operation of gangs and work within Police to target the proceeds of crime.

- Commit to recruiting a further 1000 new frontline police alongside the 2335 new frontline police we have already trained since the last election
- Review Police pay and conditions with the goal of achieving parity with the Australian Police
- Ensure that there is staffing available to eliminate sole charge police stations
- Focus on crime prevention and working with the community
- Adequately resource community policing including Maori and Pasifika wardens, and Neighbourhood Watch
- Conduct an independent review on arming the police
- Provide minimum mandatory prison terms for assaulting Police Officers
- Double the number of Youth Aid officers
- Introduce a ‘Youth Justice Demerit Points’ system to provide structure and early intervention for youth offenders. There must be accountability, an offender needs to know there will be consequences but also every opportunity to change their behaviours
- Review fleeing driver legislation and ensure adequate resourcing to curb the exponential increase in fleeing driver incidents
