- Maintaining and strengthening our traditional alliances, such as Five Eyes and the Commonwealth
- Continuing to lead the world with our relationships in Asia.
- Emphasising our role as a leading country in the South Pacific. Aid should be focused and directed into the South Pacific.
- Continuing to support bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements, as these are the basis of New Zealand’s prosperity.
- Pursuing a free trade and free movement area between Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom (CANZUK).

- New Zealand law should ensure that our armed forces never engage in overseas military action without a UN sanction and the approval of Parliament.
- Work to address the “root cause” of legitimate economic and social grievances felt by many groups which foster non-state terrorism.
- Trade agreements should contribute to national and global environmental goals, promote human rights and labour standards, support democracy, and uphold national sovereignty.

- Continue to negotiate modern, high-quality free trade agreements, which promote adherence to environmental and labour standards, including progressing negotiations with the United Kingdom and European Union.
- Continue to strengthen New Zealand’s advocacy on issues such as climate change. We live in the Pacific, and with that comes a huge duty to both act, and speak on, the threat that climate change poses to our region.
- Progress our bold plan to boost primary sector export earnings by $44 billion over the next decade through a focus on creating value, while improving environmental outcomes.

- Explore the feasibility of introducing an exporters tax of 20% for new business or product lines
- Remain strongly committed to New Zealand’s anti-nuclear policy
- Further develop relationships within the greater Asia-Pacific region in recognition of its growing importance to New Zealand’s security and wellbeing
- Continue to support the “Pacific reset” so money spent wisely now is money saved on any repairs and rebuilding in the future
- Continue with the progress made on the free trade agreement with the United Kingdom as a larger part of advocating for closer Commonwealth Economic Relations
- Work to advance trade relationships to ensure certainty of our supply chain and to establish agreements such as a ‘Commonwealth Connection’ trade agreement with the UK and commonwealth countries post Brexit
- Encourage businesses to engage in import substitution
- Broaden the role of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise to better enhance exporting prospects where we have a competitive advantage
- Continue work towards establishing a full free trade agreement with the United States
- Maintain our strong Foreign Affairs links to collaborate with our partners on border policy that is responsive to the economic and health needs of New Zealand.
