WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX 50 has dropped -1.3% over today's session, extending its monthly decline to -4.1%. Despite the slump, the index remains up +4% year-on-year.
THE MAIN GAINERS
Gains were limited, with only 16 companies in positive territory. Vista Group (VGL, #32) led the way, rising +2% to continue its strong momentum—up +25% in the past six months and +126% over the year. Vital Healthcare Property (VHP, #24) gained +1% but remains down -15% year-on-year. Tower Limited (TWR, #39) also added +1%, bringing its 12-month gain to +102%. Auckland Airport (AIA, #3) edged up +0.5% but has fallen -1% over the past year.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
Declines dominated the session, with 61 stocks finishing lower. Summerset Holdings (SUM, #16) fell -3% but remains up +9% for the year. Infratil (IFT, #4) also dropped -3%, extending its monthly slide to +7% and leaving it down -3% year-on-year. Freightways (FRW, #20) shed -2%, though it has gained +23% over the past year. Heartland Group Holdings (HGH, #33) continued its sharp downturn, losing another -2%—down -24% in the last month and -37% year-on-year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Vista Group International (VGL, #32) has signed a five-year agreement with Odeon Cinemas Group to transition its UK and European circuits to Vista Cloud’s full Operational Excellence offering. The deal covers over 2,448 screens across 309 sites, including all owned and most managed locations outside the USA. Odeon, a subsidiary of AMC Cinemas, already uses Vista’s Managed Services in the UK, Ireland, Portugal, and Spain. The rollout will begin with Finland’s Finnkino circuit in H2 2025, followed by the UK and Ireland in 2026. Vista Group CEO Stuart Dickinson said the transition underscores Odeon’s confidence in Vista’s technology and strategic direction.
