WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 remained flat today, holding onto a +1% gain over the last five days and +6% over the past six months, with a solid +12% increase year-on-year.
THE MAIN GAINERS
The market recorded 39 gainers, led by a2 Milk (ATM, #10), which rose +2% today and has grown +33% year-on-year. Scales Corp (SCL, #37), The NZX (NZX, #42), and Oceania Healthcare (OCA, #38) followed, each posting a +1.4% gain. Scales Corp extended its strong monthly rise of +8%, contributing to a +32% gain year-on-year. The NZX added +29% over the past six months and +38% year-on-year, while Oceania Healthcare posted a solid +13% yearly gain.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
On the other side of the coin, 42 companies declined today, led by Hallenstein Glassons (HLG, #40), which fell -2% but still boasts a +39% gain for the year. Heartland Group Holdings (HGH, #32) also dropped -2%, extending its yearly loss to -29%. Ryman Healthcare (RYM, #16) and Channel Infrastructure (CHI, #35) both declined -1%. Ryman’s share price is down -22% year-on-year, while Channel Infrastructure remains strong with a +32% gain over the same period.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
The NZX (NZX, #42) will release its financial and trading results for the year ended 31 December 2024 on Friday, 21 February 2025. A teleconference for investors and analysts will be held on the same day, featuring NZX Chief Executive Mark Peterson and Chief Financial & Corporate Officer Graham Law.
EBOS Group (EBO, #8) has announced the appointment of Grant Viney as Chief Executive Officer of EBOS Animal Care, effective 1 February 2025. Mr Viney, currently the Executive General Manager of EBOS-owned Masterpet, has overseen consistent growth for brands like Black Hawk and Vitapet since joining in 2019. John Cullity, EBOS CEO, noted that Mr Viney brings extensive FMCG experience and a deep understanding of customer behavior across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, making him well-suited to lead the Animal Care division.
