WHAT THE NZX50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 remained flat for a consecutive day, posting a modest +0.6% gain over the last five days. The index has grown +9.5% over the past six months and holds a solid +11% year-on-year increase.
THE MAIN GAINERS
In today’s market, 31 stocks posted gains, led by Mercury Energy (MCY, #5) and Kathmandu Brands (KMD, #50), both up +4%. Despite the daily lift, Mercury declined -8% over the past five days, -13% for the month, and sits at a -10% loss year-on-year. Kathmandu Brands, while gaining today, remains down -49% for the year. Channel Infrastructure (CHI, #36) followed with a +2% gain, marking a +2% increase over six months and a robust +27% year-on-year rise. Infratil (IFT, #4) added +1% today, maintaining a strong +23% gain for the year.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
On the decliners’ side, 49 stocks fell, with Tower Limited (TWR, #40) and EBOS Group (EBO, #7) leading, both down -2%. Despite today’s drop, Tower remains up an impressive +122% year-on-year. EBOS Group fell -1% over the last five days but is still up +14% over six months and +1% year-on-year. The NZX (NZX, #42) declined -2%, bringing its year-to-date loss to -6%. Lastly, Goodman Property Trust (GMT, #14) dropped -1% today but continues to perform well with a +32% year-on-year gain.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Westpac Group CEO Anthony Miller announced that Chief Financial Officer Michael Rowland will retire in 2025 after serving the company since 2020. Rowland has been instrumental in guiding Westpac through the challenges of COVID-19, maintaining a strong capital position, and overseeing a successful business transformation that delivered consistent, sustainable returns to shareholders. He will remain in his role while a search for his successor is conducted.
Mercury Energy (MCY, #5) will release its interim results for the six months ending 31 December 2024 on Tuesday, 25 February 2025. A live webcast presentation on the company’s financial, operational, and strategic performance will be held at 11:00 AM on the same day, hosted by Chief Executive Stewart Hamilton and CFO William Meek.
