WHAT THE NZX50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 has declined -0.8% today, falling -1.8% for the past five-day period. Over the last six months the NZX50 has risen +8%, gaining +11% year-on-year.
THE MAIN GAINERS
In the equity market, there are 38 gainers, with Spark (SPK, #9) leading with a +4% gain. Over the past five days Spark's share price has gained +2% but has declined by -43% in comparison to this time last year. Following closely is Turners Automotive (TRA, #42), which saw a +3% increase today. In the last six months, TRA's share price gained +37% and it stands at a +15% gain year-on-year. Sky Network (SKT, #49) shows a +2% rise but a -10% decline year-on-year. Followed by Tower Limited (TWR, #40), up +1.5% and a remarkable +63% over the last six months. Year-on-year, Tower has gained +116%.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
The 33 decliners in the market are led by F&P Healthcare (FPH, #1) down by -2%. For the year-to-date, FPH has seen a share price increase of +55%. Both Mercury Energy (MCY, #5) and Meridian Energy (MEL, #2) experience a decrease of -1.5% today. Over the past six months, Mercury has declined -7%, though it has a +1% gain for the year. Meridian Energy has dropped -12% over the last six months, gaining +5% for the year. Skellerup (SKL, #30) follows with a decrease of -1%, gaining +4% year-on-year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Meridian Energy (MEL, #2) CEO Neal Barclay will step down in June 2025 after seven years of leadership marked by renewable energy growth and sustainability initiatives. He will be succeeded by current CFO Mike Roan, a 17-year veteran of Meridian and Deloitte’s 2023 CFO of the Year, who has been instrumental in advancing the company’s strategic goals and key contracts.
Spark (SPK, #9) has agreed to sell its remaining 17% stake in Connexa to CDPQ for $314 mln, expecting a $70 mln gain in reported EBITDAI. The transaction, subject to regulatory approvals, will result in CDPQ and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan each holding a 50% co-controlling interest in Connexa. Spark will remain a key customer, retaining control over its network design and operations while Connexa handles infrastructure deployment. Completion is anticipated in FY25 Q3.
