WHAT THE NZX50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 opened the week flat, maintaining its -2% drop over the past five days. However, the index holds a +9% gain over the last six months and a +12% increase year-on-year.
THE MAIN GAINERS
In the equity market, 34 companies posted gains today, led by The Warehouse Group (WHS, #48), which rose +3%. Despite today's increase, it has only gained +1% over the last five days and remains down -40% year-on-year. Auckland International Airport (AIA, #3) followed with a +2% gain, bringing its five-day increase to +3% and its year-on-year performance to +1%. Manawa Energy (MNW, #22) added +1.5%, posting a strong +28% gain over the last six months and +27% year-on-year. Port of Tauranga (POT, #11) gained +1% today and is up +17% year-on-year.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
On the decliners' side, 58 companies recorded losses. Fletcher Building (FBU, #15) led with a -2% drop, bringing its year-on-year decline to a sharp -37%. The NZX (NZX, #41) also fell -2% but retains an impressive +40% gain year-on-year. Property for Industry (PFI, #28) matched the -2% decline, now down -4% for the year. Gentrack (GTK, #23) slipped -1.6%, though it maintains a strong +42% gain over the last six months and a substantial +116% increase year-on-year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
S&P Dow Jones Indices has announced the results of its December 2024 quarterly review, with changes effective prior to the opening of trading on Monday, December 22, 2024. In the S&P/ASX 200 Index, Clarity Pharmaceuticals (CU6) will be added, while Spark NZ (SPK) will be removed. There are no changes to the S&P/ASX 100 Index.
Sky Network Television (SKT, #49) has acknowledged recent media speculation regarding ongoing negotiations with New Zealand Rugby Commercial (NZRC) for rugby broadcasting rights from 2026. Sky stated that negotiations remain confidential and reaffirmed its policy of not commenting on speculation. The company assured the market it will provide updates as required and continues to meet its continuous disclosure obligations under NZX Listing Rule 3.1.1.
ANZ Group has announced the appointment of Nuno Matos as Chief Executive Officer, effective 3 July 2025, succeeding Shayne Elliott, who is retiring after nine years in the role. Mr. Matos will also join the boards of ANZ Group Holdings Limited and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited as an Executive Director.
