Here are the key changes to know about in the New Zealand equity market; NZX flat to end the month even though there were 50 gainers and only 28 decliners today. But the market is subdued with no big movers

Here are the key things you need to know about in the NZX markets over the past 24 hours. Changes are as at 3:00 pm and may change when the market closes at 4:45 pm.

WHAT THE NZX50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 remained relatively flat today, gaining +2% over the past month and +12% in the last six months. Year-on-year, the index has advanced +16%.

THE MAIN GAINERS
A total of 50 companies posted gains to close the trading week. Skellerup (SKL, #31) led the pack, rising +3% today and +4% year-on-year. Investore Property (IPL, #46) also increased by +3%, bringing its year-to-date gain to +17%. Gentrack (GTK, #25) returned to the gainers list, climbing +2% and maintaining a robust +139% year-on-year performance. The NZX itself (NZX, #42) gained +2%, posting a strong +42% year-on-year increase.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
On the declining side, 28 companies finished lower. Ryman Healthcare (RYM, #14) fell -2%, contributing to a -14% year-to-date decline. Auckland International Airport (AIA, #3) slipped -1%, remaining flat year-on-year. Serko (SKO, #41) dropped -0.8%, bringing its year-on-year decline to -10%. Manawa Energy (MNW, #22) edged down -0.6% but remains up +15% year-on-year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Hallenstein Glasson Holdings has released its inaugural Climate-Related Disclosure (CRD) for the year ended 1 August 2024, prepared in line with the Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards (NZ CS). The CRD complements the company’s FY24 Annual Report, published on 30 September 2024, and provides insights into its climate strategies and commitments.

Burger Fuel Group (BFG) posted a net profit after tax of $438,733 for the six months ended 30 September 2024, down -24.5% compared to the same period last year. Group operating revenue (excluding IFRS 16 interest income) declined by -1.58% to $12.4mln. Despite the softer results, the company maintains a strong financial position with no debt and cash reserves of $4.4mln as of 30 September 2024.
