WHAT THE NZX50 IS DOING
The NZX50 has shown minimal movement today and throughout the week. However, for the month, the index has risen by an impressive 4.8%, and over the past six months, it has gained 8.6%. Year-on-year, the NZX50 has delivered an increase of 17.7%.
THE MAIN GAINERS
There are 30 gainers today, with Scales Corp (SCL, #39) leading the way, up 1.8%. Scales Corp has experienced significant growth, rising 8.6% over the past month and an impressive 30.3% year-on-year. Following closely is Mainfreight (MFT, #6), which gained 1.6% and has increased 3% this week, resulting in a year-on-year gain of 21.9%. Port of Tauranga (POT, #11) saw a gain of 1.5% since yesterday, bringing its year-on-year increase to 12.6%. EBOS Group (EBO, #7) also posted a solid performance, rising 1.1%.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
On the final trading day of the week, there are 48 decliners, with a2 Milk (ATM, #10) leading the way with a drop of 2.9%. Despite this setback, a2 Milk has recorded a robust 7.5% gain over the past month and an impressive 41.2% year-to-date. Following closely is Tower Limited (TWR), a recent addition to the index, which declined 2.6% and will finish the five-day period down 7.4%. Nonetheless, Tower has achieved remarkable growth over the past year, soaring 101.5%. Vulcan Steel (VSL, #27) also saw a decline of 2.4%, yet it remains in positive territory for the year with a 3.7% gain. Vista Group (VGL, #36) matched Vulcan Steel’s decline, also dropping 2.4% in its share price.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Summerset Group Holdings Limited (SUM, #16) has announced the appointment of PwC as its external auditor for the 2025 financial year. This decision was made as part of good governance practices and in consideration of the current auditor's tenure. EY, Summerset's existing auditor, will complete the remaining audit work for the 2024 financial year.
In other news, NZ Windfarms (NWF) has acquired the Hau Nui Wind Farm from Genesis Energy (GNE, #18). The company anticipates that this acquisition will enable it to produce approximately 12-15 GWh annually, which represents about 12% to 14% of its Te Rere Hau station's output. The acquisition will be financed through existing cash reserves.
