Here are the key changes to know about in the New Zealand equity market; Spark, Freightways & Kathmandu recover some ground. Serko, the Warehouse, and NZX lose more

Here are the key things you need to know about in the NZX markets over the past 24 hours. Changes are as at 3:00 pm and may change when the market closes at 4:45 pm.

WHAT THE NZX50 IS DOING
The NZX50 gains +0.9% today, but lesser-changed over the last five days up +0.3%. The NZX50 is now at a gain of +11.5% year-on-year.

THE MAIN GAINERS
There are 43 companies with a gain. Spark (SPK, #9) has the biggest gain today, up +3.2%. SPK is at a loss over the last five days falling -2.5% which will end its month down -13.9%. Over the past year the company's share price has fallen -34.7%. Freightways (FRW, #21) gain for a consecutive day up 2.4%. This decreased its yearly decline to -11.3%. Kathmandu Brands (KMD, #50) has a gain of +2%.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
There are 38 decliners on the equity markets today. Serko (SKO, #48) decline the most, down -3%. Over the last month the tech company has taken a -11.4% hit, this takes its yearly decline up to -27.8%. The Warehouse Group (WHS, #42) continue to face its challenges with the share price declining a further -1.8% since yesterday. WHS now drop -10.4% over the past five-days and -36% year-on-year. The NZX (NZX, #43) declines -1.6% since yesterday, followed by Manawa Energy (MNW, #22) down -1.2%.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
The NZX announced its September 2024 shareholder Metrics. The All-equity market capitalisation for the month was $160,996m, an +7.4% increase year-on-year. There were a total of 937,136 trades made, up +15.6% from this time last year. The total trade value for the month came to $3,824m which is +16.1% higher than September of 2023. 

Turners Automotive Group (TRA, #44) Directors declared a Q1 FY2025 dividend of 6 cents per share, due to be paid on the 30th of October. TRA's share price is at a gain of +8.3% for the month, up +19.4% for the year. Also a reminder to the fact that Turners joined the NZX50 in December, 2023.

Westpac Group (WBC) announced an agreement with Resimac Australia today where it is selling all its auto finance loans and lease receivables. The sale is set to be complete in the first half of 2025. The overall value of the agreement is approximately $1.4 - $1.6 billion and is not expected to have a 'material impact' to Westpac's financial statements. This sale finalises WBC's divestment of its auto business as a result of its partial sale in 2021.
