Here are the key changes to know about in the New Zealand equity market today; WHS & THL have a good day, RYM and SCL struggle again. AIA's underwritten placement 'strongly supported'

Here are the key things you need to know about in the NZX markets over the past 24 hours. Changes are as at 3:00 pm and may change when the market closes at 4:45 pm.

WHAT THE NZX50 IS DOING
The NZX50 declined -0.4% so far today. The NZX50 has a gain of +4.9% over the last month, up +11.1% from this time last year.

THE MAIN GAINERS
There are 29 gainers on the NZX equity markets today. The biggest gainer within the NZX50 is The Warehouse Group (WHS, #44) up +2.4%. WHS are also up for the month gaining +4.9% but over the year WHS has fallen -24.3%. Tourism Holdings (THL, #42) have the next biggest gain at +1.1%. THL have struggled to hold recently with their share pricing declining -6.1% over the month and a massive -44.8% year-on-year. The NZX (NZX, #43) themselves are on the gainers board up +0.8%, although it fell -11.8% for the month. Followed by Mercury Energy (MCY, #5) also up +0.8%.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
With 52 decliners on the mainboard, the biggest is shared between Scales Corp (SCL, #39), Kathmandu Brands (KMD, #50), and Ryman Healthcare (RYM, #14) all falling -1.9%. SCL are down for the month with a decline of -2.8%, rising +13.9% over the year. KMD have a positive gain for the month up +4.1%; it will be aiming to rebuild on their year-on-year drop of -35.4% and RYM are in similar fashion over the year declining -29.2%. SkyCity Entertainment (SKC, #29)  who are back after their one-week closure decline -1.4%. SKC face a decline on all fronts down -10.8% for the month, and -28.4% for the year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Heartland Group (HGH, #33) announced that the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has filed proceedings against a former junior Heartland Bank employee. The proceedings are alleged insider trading in shares. Read on here: FMA files criminal proceedings against former Heartland Bank employee

Auckland International Airport (AIA, #3) announced that it has fully completed the book build for its $1.2 billion underwritten placement. The announcement notes that the placement was "strongly supported" and the attracting bids received were well in excess of the $1.2 billion total offer amount. CEO Carrie Hurihanganui says that she was very pleased with the level of support for the placement, and the support in general by the investment community. Settlement is expected to occur on the 19th of September.
