- Adopt a split gas emissions reporting approach which accurately reflects the actual warming effect of methane emissions.
- Tie any emissions price to that of our five main trading partners to ensure there is a level playing field for growers and producers competing overseas.
- Ensure farmers are able to offset all on-farm sequestration from their emissions liability.
- Remove barriers stalling the uptake of emissions reducing technologies, such as 3NOP which could reduce methane emissions from cattle but has been held up for years in Wellington.

- Ensure that the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) settings are sufficient to meet our emissions reduction, and is consistent with the advice of the Climate Change Commission, and are effective at incentivising gross emissions reductions over net emissions reductions.
- Ensure that additional NZUs made available through the ETS are consistent with our international commitments to achieve our 2030 and 2050 emission reduction targets.
- Where the ETS is proving ineffective in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, implement alternative emissions pricing mechanisms.

- Give farmers the tools they need to reduce emissions, such as gene-edited crops, feed, and livestock, by lifting the effective ban on GE and GM technologies.
- Implement a fair and sustainable pricing system for on-farm agricultural emissions by 2030 that reduces emissions without sending production overseas.
- Limit the conversion of productive farmland to forestry for carbon farming purposes to protect local communities and food production.
