ANZ New Zealand says Fred Ohlsson, currently its managing director for business banking, will also take over from the departing Kerri Thompson as its head of retail banking.
Ohlsson will be managing director of retail and business banking from September 30, subject to Reserve Bank approval.
Thompson is leaving to become managing director of bancassurance and customer experience at ANZ Global Wealth in Sydney. ANZ announced Thompson's move just last week.
Ohlsson, a Swede, has been managing director of business banking since joining ANZ NZ in December 2010. The business banking unit incorporates SMEs, with ANZ also having a managing director of commercial & agri in Graham Turley, and a managing director of institutional in David Green. Ohlsson has an MBA from the Bocconi University School of Management in Milan, and worked for management consultants McKinsey and Company before joining ANZ Group in 2001 in Australia, where he was general manager of commercial products.
"During his time with ANZ New Zealand, business banking market share has grown and funds under management have reached record highs," ANZ says.
